When God lifts us, we have the responsibility of staying at the top.
Daniel 2: 21 says, “He changes times and seasons, he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning”. As much as God removes kings and raises up others, we have our own part to play.
The way to the top is not smooth. There are always obstacles in the way. Once we do the needful and these obstacles are cleared, then we have easy access to the next stage. This helps in our maturity as there are always new devils to overcome at every new level. God will not give you something that you are not yet matured enough for because it could end up destroying one’s life.
Those who prefer the shortcut to the top, going through a route not ordained by God, it’s only a matter of time before they start crashing down. Some may survive while others may not be so lucky but one thing will be noticed. There will be no visible reward for their labour and they will fade over time.
God has ordained our path to keep shining brighter and brighter (Proverbs 4: 18). This means that there is a more glorious level for you compared to where you are now. It’s your responsibility to know what to do to access that new realm and don’t just get comfortable with where you are.
This post will show us what is required to stay at the top.
Hard work
Firstly, we should know that to stay on top, hard work is necessary. The top is meant for everybody and not for some special group of people. I’ve heard some great men of God prophecy great things about some people and nothing/ no prophecy for others. At the end of the day, you see those with no prophecy becoming trailblazers, pathfinder, etc. This does not necessarily mean that what was prophesied to others wasn’t true, but what actions did they take?
Some took actions while others don’t. God is not partial, He believes in hard work (Ecc. 9: 10) and He also blesses the works of our hand (Psalm 90: 17). In essence, once you apply yourself well and prepare to be used by God, He will use you.
We have examples of this in the Word of God. Those who stood out were hard workers. Our Heavenly Father still works and so does Jesus. John 5: 17 (NIV) states, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working”.
Obedience
To remain on top and keep scaling new heights, you have to obey what God is telling you to do. It’s His way and His rule not yours. You can’t do things your way and expect Him to lift you. He is the lifter of our head (Psalm 3: 4). We are to obey God’s Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Being in tune with the Spirit of God gives one huge advantage.
Fellowship with God
Spend time with God, listen to what He has to say, worship Him, have quiet times with Him, listening carefully to what He has to say, and do what He tells you. This includes having a sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
Integrity
Do not be a man-pleaser. Hate evil, be ready to stand for God anywhere you may be irrespective of what it may cost you.
