When God leads you, He goes with you and He goes before you. He works for you, He works through you and at the end of the day, He still rewards you for your obedience. life on earth is difficult and gets worse as the day goes by. Walking with God makes one exempted from this horror times.
When walking with God, obedience is a vital requirement. Obedience could be costly but the end result is priceless and disobedience is a sin. We should always look forward to pleasing God in all that we do but at the same time careful not to be disobedient.
Some people could be so enthusiastic about pleasing God that they go out of God’s plan for their lives. People have ventured in various things both for God and one’s self that was not approved by God and ended up backfiring. The absence of God in what we do is the beginning of difficulty.
The first example, obedience
I will give 2 examples from the Bible the first being King David, the man after God’s own heart. He wanted to build a temple for God (2 Samuel 7, 1 Kings 8: 17- 19). God was pleased with the fact that it was in David’s heart to build a house for the Lord God of Israel but it was not approved.
Solomon his son was the destined one to build it. if David had insisted and built it, this would have been disobedience (despite the fact that it was for a good course). Where there is disobedience, there is sin and it’s the devil that dwells in sin.
Second, disobedience
The second example is that of Saul, 1 Samuel 15. Samuel told Saul what God had said concerning the Amalekites how he should destroy all of them and not spare anyone. Saul disobeyed.
1 Samuel 15 vs 9, But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
Saul’s plan was to sacrifice the best of the sheep and oxen to God ( 1 Samuel 15 vs 15). Even though this was for a good course, this singular act of disobedience cost him his throne and ended up costing him his life.
Brethren in the Faith, a walk with God is a walk of clarity and no assumptions. Do what He tells you to do and always run your ideas by Him for approval. Obedience is better than Sacrifice.
