Biblical blessings attached to obedience
Obedience is doing what God tells you to do. How does God speak to us?
- In His word
- Through personal interaction.
Everything God says in His word is for everyone. Matthew 13: 37
Obedience is priceless while disobedience is costly. Disobedience was what caused the fall of man and brought sin into this world, it’s also the reason why people suffer.
Deut 28: 1
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
Reading up until the 13th verse will review all the blessings as a result of obeying the verse 1. Another verse is Job 36: 11 which says;
If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
1 Samuel 15: 22 tells us that Obedience is better than Sacrifice.
A bit on Sacrifice
To divert a bit, what is Sacrifice?
Sacrifice is giving to God something that is of value to you, something that costs you thereby moving the hand of God in your direction.
Abraham Obeyed God and was about to SACRIFICE his son Isaac and with this act, he received generational blessings (Gen 22). Solomon offered a thousand burnt offering to God and was greatly blessed by God (2 Chronicles 1: 1-12).
Sacrifice is provoking the hand of God to move in your favor but still. The Bible tells us that obedience is better than sacrifice. Obedience makes you get things cheaply from God without having to beg for it. At every point in our lives, God speaks to us through His word and individually and the path we follow (obedience or disobedience) determines the outcome we receive. One of the major differences between those that are not making it and those that are is disobedience.
Reading throughout the Bible, one will see the rewards of obedience. Sometimes, when God gives you instructions, it might sound weird, people around you laugh but the end is what justifies the means.
Obedience in our lives
Starting out in life, people start little by little. Life is not about making it fast or reaching your goal as fast as you can, no lesson will be learned neither will you enjoy the fruit of your labor. One needs to work, have experiences that will make one grow/ mature in the battles of life and obedience in an important virtue to carry along with this.
We all have our purpose in life, there is a particular reason why each one of us is on planet earth. There is something we are meant to do and finish it before we go home (Heaven) and it’s our Job to find out what this is.
The only person that can help us out is the one that created us and gave us this job. He is God, asking Him for His plan for you is not out of place. Just as God works, Adam also worked in the garden of Eden i.e taking care of the garden, naming the animals etc, we all are meant to work too.
In Summary
Once you’ve located God’s plan for you, begin to obey every instruction that He gives. Some times these instruction comes easy and some other times not so easy. It’s also important to be highly sensitive to the leading of the spirit so you don’t miss the instruction but obey them accurately.
You can look for Christian books on how one can be spiritually sensitive e.g How to be led by the Spirit by Kenneth Hagin and other Christian books.
Obeying each instruction makes you grow and mature enough for the next level in your life until your work on earth is done. Obedience is key to fulfilling your God-ordained destiny on earth.
It is important that you accept Jesus into your life if you haven’t and let Him be your personal Lord and Saviour. If you are in this category, join me in the salvation prayer.
