As regards the bad choices Adam and Eve made, man began to suffer from all kinds of affliction. This includes ; physical, emotional, and spiritual. Even though it was man’s fault for bringing this upon himself, God in His infinite mercy devised a means of escape for man. He gave man rules and regulations and when obeyed, will lead to safety.
All through the old testament, we saw God defending those who obeyed Him and followed His instructions such as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We remember the 10 commandments He gave the Israelites through Moses. We saw what happened when they did or didn’t obey Him. Each time the people disobey God He left them, after which the devil began to harass them in various ways using other humans in the forms of war or sending diseases their way.
The people who lived in the days of the old testament waited for the promise of the Messiah who would save people from their sins. Various prophets inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote different things that would happen in the life of the Messiah. These examples are; what name He would be called (Isaiah 7: 14). The process He would go through to pay the price (Isaiah 53: 2- 12) and be used as a sacrifice for sin (Isaiah 53: 5-12). They also wrote about how He would resurrect from the dead and many more.
In this post, I will dwell more on the price Jesus paid so that we can have our health restored.
God’s Word on our healing and health
A prophecy went forth by prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 53:4- 5 which says,
“4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him,and by his wounds we are healed.
This prophecy was fulfilled in the new testament. Matthew 8: 17 which says, “ “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.” When people say that the old testament is not for this very age or they disregard it, this is very wrong because Jesus Himself on whose account the new testament is based on said He has not come to destroy the law (referring to the old testament) but to fulfill it.
Back to the main topic. The Bible passages we’ve read show that Jesus already paid the price for our healing and health. Through Him, we are redeemed from the old ways of sin and death unto life. Through His death and resurrection, we’ve been restored back to our formal position that Adam had with God but this time, it’s in Jesus. This means that any time God sees us, He sees Jesus in us.
Furthermore, as a result of the price Jesus paid, all sicknesses, diseases, shame, poverty that the devil planned to use as an instrument of oppression on people has been canceled. Then why do people still go through all these things? Because they are not aware of it. The devil is cheating them because of their ignorance.
